"I was at the presentation you did at the conference in Atlanta... and have been talking about your work to all the professionals I know ever since. Your insights and methods were very meaningful to me. As a mother and a new social worker, I find your work a wonderful contribution to the world of therapy."

In this 4 hour video training program, consisting of 2 two hour tapes, Dr. Katz provides essential training that will (1) help adoptive and foster parents, adoption and foster workers, teachers, and therapists understand the emotional and behavior problems that many adopted and foster children have and (2) provide creative interventions that work on these emotional problems. How emotional problems including attachment, control, identity, anger, and immaturity produce the behavioral problems; why the behavioral problems do not respond to traditional parenting and teaching techniques that focus primarily on the behavior rather than the emotional problems; and how to markedly increase the effectiveness of helping children by reinforcing with visual, motor, tactile, and sensory experiences the ideas and lessons being verbally discussed are demonstrated.
Although there is some overlap between this training program, which was made in 1990 and the new Helping Children of Divorce and Adopted Children With Emotional Problems, there are many interventions in each that are not included in the other. Many adoption and foster agencies throughout North America have purchased this training and use it to teach all of their staff and parents of special needs children.
