Dr. Katz received his Bachelor's degree from Clark University in Massachusetts in 1968 where he graduated Phi Betta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude, with Honors in
 

psychology, and was selected into Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges. He received his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Wayne State University in 1971.
     For 25 years he has been providing therapy to children, adults, and families with emotional and adjustment problems due to severe trauma, including loss of or separation from one or both parents. He has earned international respect for developing innovative creative therapy methods that have helped thousands of children and adults who had experienced physical, emotional, and/or sexual abuse, neglect, divorce, death of a parent, and painful illness. He has helped many adopted, foster, and divorced children and adults who had not responded to other therapy programs.
     Dr. Katz has been featured in many newspaper articles and has been the invited trainer for parents, school personnel and therapists at more than 300 workshops throughout Michigan, the United States, and Canada, including the Attachment Center in Evergreen, Colorado.
     Dr. Katz has been a guest on many radio programs concerning family, divorce, and adoption issues and he has been featured on several TV shows, most recently about domestic violence and its effects on children. This show was chosen as the best in the series, was sent to the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Arts and Sciences as the entry in the Emmy Award competition, and was nominated for an Emmy Award.
     Dr. Katz's effective innovative methods have resulted in his being presented with Distinguished Service Awards, a Spirit of Detroit award from the entire Detroit City Council, and several Community Service awards. Dr. Katz and his program have earned the respect and praise of Martha Jean "The Queen" Steinberg, legendary radio personality, minister, and Detroit community leader who frequently recommends him to families.
